Most voice apps send your microphone to a server. DeyVoice does not even have the code for that: the speech recognizer lives on your disk. A medical record, a contract, a password said by accident — none of it travels.
Frequently asked questions
Does it work without internet?
Yes. After the one-time download of the speech model, everything works offline. The internet is only used again to look for updates.
Does my audio go to any server?
No. The audio is captured, transcribed and discarded on your machine. There is no audio upload route in the application.
Which programs does it work in?
Any program that accepts typing: browser, Word, VS Code, WhatsApp, terminal, search box. The text arrives as if it came from the keyboard, and your clipboard is never touched.
What is the shortcut and can it be changed?
Ctrl+Shift+D by default, swappable for any combination. You choose between clicking to start and stop, or holding the key while you speak.
Do I need a graphics card?
No. Transcription runs on the CPU. Beyond a microphone, no specific hardware is required.
Why is the model around 670 MB?
It is the speech recognizer that lives on your disk — exactly what makes transcribing without the cloud possible. The download happens once, it is resumable and every file is checked by sha256.
Is it really free?
Yes. No charge, no subscription, no account and no limit on minutes spoken.
Which languages does it transcribe?
25 European languages, among them English, Portuguese, Spanish, French, German and Italian. The interface of the application is available in all 25.
Does it work on Windows 10?
Yes, on Windows 10 and on Windows 11, both 64-bit. There is no version for macOS, Linux or Windows on ARM.
Why does the text not appear in some windows?
Windows protects programs opened as administrator from typing that comes from ordinary applications. For those cases, DeyVoice has a button to restart as administrator.
